A Celebration and Inspiration

The FNEA logo was designed by Ts’mysen artist Kelli Clifton. In the artist’s own words:

Graduation ceremonies are becoming more sacred as many Indigenous peoples across Canada are making the choice to proudly wear their traditional regalia during this momentous occasion.

As someone who has attended each commencement ceremony upon completion of a degree/program/certificate, I can attest to the fact that wearing regalia makes you feel more connected to your ancestors and proud of showing the world who you are and where you come from. This logo design is a representation of this. It’s a celebration of educational goals and accomplishments, while honouring and acknowledging the role that our ancestors play in aiding us along each of our journeys. In the centre of the graduation cap there is a face which represents an ancestor and rather than a tassel, an eagle feather hangs from the cap.

It is my hope that this logo acts as both a celebration and inspiration for Indigenous people and their educational goals.
